School Councils are designed to bring communities and schools closer together in the spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents in to the school-based decision-making process. The Council is to provide advice, recommendations and assistance, and represent the community of parents and businesses. Members are to share ideas for school improvement, and bring parents and community together with teachers and administrators to create a better understanding of a mutual respect for each other’s concerns. School Council Task Force for Overcrowding Solutions
As provided for under the School Council By-Laws, in the fall of 2010 the Morris Brandon School Council created the Task Force for Overcrowding Solutions. The role of this task force is to keep focus on the enrollment numbers as it relates to the capacity at Morris Brandon. The task force will serve as the liaison with APS in order to work together to address this concern. Additionally, the task force will provide updates at each Council meeting and prepare updates to the community as necessary. Task force members for 2012-2013 are Joseph Rogers, Tom Tidwell and Katie Mori.
