ROOTS & SHOOTS NEWS:

Come help beautify the Main Campus backyard on May 4 from 2:30-3:30 pm! Students in the third and fourth grades will help plant annual and
perennial flowers; create a miniature rock garden; and mulch existing garden beds. Please bring a shovel and garden gloves if you own them. Parents and siblings are welcome to help, too. The more adult green thumbs the better!

Parents of 4th grade Roots and Shoots,

We are excited that we have scheduled an educational service activity for our 4th grade Roots and Shoots team for March 1st at 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the library. Please see details, the attached permission slip form,  and list of help needed.  

Details:

We will be having member of the Board of Directors from The Atlanta Day Shelter come and educate our children about homelessness and how they might help.    After her talk, we will be letting the fourth graders decorate the "homeless helping bags" with words of encouragement and then assemble the bags to take home to their family to share with those in need.  The bags will be filled with a pack of crackers, granola bar, applesauce, a small bottle of water, napkins and plastic silverware, etc.  The purpose of these bags are for the fourth graders to leave our meeting with 3-4 bags to keep with their families and to offer to people in need our students and their families might encounter.  (I keep mine in my car.)

How can you help?

You can lend a hand that day.  You can donate some of the needed supplies for the bags: applesauce, packaged crackers (peanut butter cheese crackers, etc.), or granola bars.    Finally, you can bring a toiletry item to donate to the shelter (please see needed list below).  Please email Tina or I back and let us know if you can help.
