Private School Application Process 2016-17

Procedures to Request Student Transcripts and Teacher/Principal Recommendation Forms for Private School Applications Only
2016-2017

Each year some parents request transcripts of their child(ren)’s school records and ask their teachers and principal to complete recommendation forms for an application to a private school. The compilation of these records and forms requires a great deal of time, effort, and energy from the Morris Brandon staff. In order to ensure that this process flows smoothly and to minimize the impact on the day to day duties and responsibilities of staff, the following procedures will be utilized.

For schools who USE THE RAVENNA SYSTEM:

  • Teacher/principal recommendation forms should be submitted to the appropriate staff members electronically.  
  • A signed transcript release form is required to be turned into the office before any transcripts may be sent. Transcript requests will be collected in the main offices between the hours of 8am and 3pm beginning Monday, December 5 – Friday, December 16, 2016.

For those applying to schools NOT USING THE RAVENNA SYSTEM:

  • Please provide a 10 x 13 manila envelope for each requested set of transcripts and recommendation forms. Address each envelope to the school for which the transcript is intended and place a minimum of 6 stamps on each envelope. The office staff will place a label with the Morris Brandon address as the return address for each envelope.
  • We charge a fee of $5.00 per set for copies of transcripts and all other necessary forms. Please make all checks payable to Morris Brandon.

For all those applying to private schools:

  • Do not send or give your child’s forms to the homeroom teacher. Turn in all forms/requests DIRECTLY to the Main Office.
  • All requests received by the December 16th deadline will be mailed/sent to the schools in a timely manner. We cannot guarantee timely mailing of any requests received after the deadline.
  • The receiving schools ask us to not complete and send the recommendation forms back until January. They are completed in the order in which they are received beginning January 3, 2017. All recommendations will be completed by the due date on the recommendation form.
  • Please note Ms. Stimpson’s email address as kmstimpson@atlanta.k12.ga.us. Don’t forget to include the “m” or the form will not make it to her inbox!
  • All visits to private schools will be counted as unexcused absences. When your child is out of school to visit or “shadow” at private schools, he/she will miss critical instruction at Morris Brandon. Please make every effort to schedule these visits after 11am each day to prevent your child being counted absent.
