GO Team Interest

Do you want to be involved in the school’s strategic planning? By participating, you’re helping to improve the education of all APS children, therefore improving our community. Declarations for parent or teacher candidates will end on February 23, and more information can be found here.

Here’s what you can expect if you serve on Morris Brandon’s GO Team:

  1. What is meeting frequency? Approximately 1x/month, alternating between early morning and late afternoon.
  2. What are additional time commitments? Online and occasional in-person GO Team training is required each year. Although not required, NAPPS and other cluster meetings, along with APS Budget and board meetings are also recommended.
  3. How is GO Team different from PTA and Foundation? GO Team works specifically with school, cluster, and district to create and advise on the creation of annual strategic plans and budgeting (among other things). This is different from the PTA and Foundation which both work at the school level to support the immediate needs of our students, teachers, and parents.
  4. What kind of impact can the GO Team really have? While GO Teams don’t typically make final decisions on issues, in an advisory capacity, GO Teams can have a serious impact on all issues that we address. For example, when Morris Brandon was considering changing our world language offering last year and earlier this year, the discussion and process was largely run through the GO Team. Even though the final decision was made by Principal Stimpson, it was made after receiving the formal recommendation from the GO Team.
