Don’t Fall BEEhind!

Greetings Parents and Community Members!

As we move into week 7 of virtual learning and inevitably closer to in-person instruction, our staff continue to work hard for our students each day, not just in the virtual environment, but also preparing classrooms, systems and routines for welcoming back our students on October 26. I realize there are still lots of questions swirling around about how in person learning will look but it is important to note that the plan cannot be finalized until the survey window ends and staff teleworking arrangements have been made. Please continue to respect our staff concerns by not asking or requesting information on teleworking or in person learning from your child’s teacher.

If a HR teacher is assigned teleworking status, they will most likely be the virtual teacher for their current grade level. Students from that class opting for in person learning can have the option to go virtual in order to remain with their homeroom teacher should space allow. Remember, this is all fluid as the final plan will be shared the week of October 19 and discussed at our October 21 Town Hall at 6pm.

Knowing that new information is coming out daily with so many moving parts, I have worked collaboratively with our PTA and communications team to develop a plan that will help disseminate information to our community. Please take a look below and mark your calendars for some important dates beginning with a high level overview from your North Atlanta Principals this afternoon at 4:30pm followed by a DLI Fireside Chat at 6pm. There will also be a GO Team meeting tomorrow (link above and below) that will allow for public comment. If you would like to speak to our GO Team, you must sign up prior to the start of the meeting using the Google doc below.

I continue to be impressed by the awesome job our students are doing daily. Our Spirit Week last week was amazing. We love highlighting our students each morning on the AM announcements and watching the Flipgrid videos and Class kindness Padlets that kids created. The school dance was SO much fun last Friday as well! The excitement and energy was something I have not seen in a long time and definitely brought a smile to all our faces! As we move through the coming weeks, lots more information will be shared around staffing, scheduling and safety. Please continue to be patient, kind, and encouraging as we work to do what is best of our teachers, staff and students.
