Greetings parents and community members! As we continue to inch closer to May and inevitably the summer, we continue to make great strides at Morris Brandon! We are actively hiring the best staff around for 19/20 openings, continuing to work on scheduling and curriculum purchases for next year and are completing profiles for all students in order to find the best teacher placement for next year. These student placement cards, or “profiles” as I call them, are a way that our teachers can share any and all pertinent information about your child to their teacher for next year. While you may never see these, it’s a great way for their 19/20 homeroom teacher to see any trends, data or social-emotional needs that any of our students may have so that they are best prepared to welcome them come day one! Aside from that, we are preparing for end-of-year celebrations, field day, testing and, of course, 5th grade graduation! We know all of the incredible things our staff does each day within our school, but I wanted to take a minute to highlight some awesome things our students have done!

  • Julien Montmayeur designed this year’s Fun Run shirt and it was awesome! The entire run was a success and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the turnout and participation from our students, staff and parents! Great work to all of those that helped plan and execute such a flawless event and great work Julian!
  • Our Brandon Chess Team, comprised of 5th graders Jackson Bailey, David Halsey, Maddox Holcom, Marcus Kessler, Brayden Manier and 4th grader Sam Garroway, earned a Plus Score Trophy and came in 9th in the state for k-5 schools. Great work team!
  • Even Brandon graduates are making a name for themselves! Tanner Adams, Duskin Balch and Lucy Bianchi (all of whom still have siblings at Brandon BTW), won Best in Discipline (Political Science) at the State Social Studies Fair this weekend with their project “Why Aren’t Women’s Rights Considered Fundamental Human Rights?” Amazing work team and way to represent!

There’s a lot in store for the next 30 school days so stay tuned for any and all pertinent information in the Bytes below. I’m extremely excited about the upcoming Auction in just two weeks (I’m wearing my 80’s clothes so you better be too!), and our amazing field day that I’ve heard so much about. Don’t forget that Go Team elections started 4/16 (you may have received a unique voting link already) and parent input forms are due 4/19. Aside from that, we have the first EVER APS Rocks n’ Run 5k on May 4th (please sign up to run with us!) and are currently internally voting on our next APyeS award winner, AKA Teacher of the Year! As always, please reach out to a member of our admin team if there is anything you need!

Until next week
