Last Days to Donate to the Bee Fund!
Greetings Parents and Community Members!
We’re finally into October and as the days seem to be cooling off, we’re super excited for what Fall has to bring! Jamboree, our Hispanic Heritage recital, Book Character Dress-up day, Thanksgiving family luncheons and of course our winter concerts are all on the horizon! While there will be plenty of info on these important dates in the upcoming weeks, I want to take a minute to recap our last full week of instruction! We got to wear our Braves gear on Thursday to support our hometown team (one more to go!), our Kindergartners had a blast at the Art Barn and we celebrated Custodial Worker Appreciation Day!
Our awesome cohort of teachers continued to collaborate with their Orton Gillingham learning partners at The Schenck School with facilitator Josie Calimari and our 4th graders continued to wear their scientist hats as they explored all about blood in Ms. Kendall’s gifted class. One of my favorite moments was seeing all of our students wear blue on Monday to symbolize students standing in solidarity against bullying. Ms. Fallon’s entire 2nd grade DLI homeroom joined in on the occasion! I also loved seeing many of our second graders write their own French stories using spooky Characters! During the month of October, our students will be participating in Cyber Security Awareness month as they begin to learn tips and strategies to stay safe in today’s digital world. Program Administrator Dwight Hutson is spearheading this campaign along with our Educational Technology Specialist. Please remember there will be no school on Monday or Tuesday as our teachers work hard planning, collaborating and preparing for our students. Many of them may have already reached out to you to schedule Fall conferences, as several will be taking place on those days. I also want to take a minute to thank all of our parents who attended the question and answer session with APS transportation. See below for a recap.
Please don’t forget to take the Parent Climate survey HERE, if you have not done so already. As always please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Until next time!
