Last Days to Donate to the Bee Fund, BEElieve in Brandon today!

Greetings Parents and Community Members!

I can’t believe it’s already October! While it definitely doesn’t feel like it, we are happily rolling into the final phase of Q1. By the end of the month, you will hopefully have a parent/teacher conference scheduled and have seen your child’s first quarter report card, which is available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Our school’s CCRPI score, the official state report card for schools, should be available soon and I will begin to share the information with our community through BeeMail and a Principal Coffee Talk.

My highlight of the past week was participating in a digital book talk with the author of our most recent SEL book of the month, “Hair Love!” Students from both MC and PC gathered in the Media Centers last Thursday to participate in an hour-long Q&A session. It was so cool to see our students engage in a session with the author of a book our entire school system read!

As the week rolls on, don’t forget to join us this Thursday (10/3) from 3-4:30pm as we conduct our third GO Team meeting of the year. We will begin to discuss the most recent CCRPI data available, look at our school’s mission and vision as we continue our Self Study in preparation for our IB re-authorization, and listen to a recap of the G3 GO Team summit that took place this past weekend. This meeting will be in the Primary Center gym and is open for public comment at the end. Also, you spoke and we listened! The APS Director of Transportation and his assistants will be at Brandon Main on Friday, October 4 for a question and answer session from 10:00-10:45am in the cafeteria. Please bring your questions and concerns so they can be addressed.

And lastly, believe it or not, we are already preparing for next year’s CCRPI release with a very important parent survey. We had over 100 parents participate in the survey last year and we hope to surpass that this year! The CCRPI Parent Climate survey is extremely important in our school’s Climate Rating. Please take a minute to complete the survey HERE and don’t forget we are in Atlanta Public Schools!  Our goal? A 5 STAR CLIMATE RATING!

Next week I look forward to giving a recap and sharing some photos of this morning’s Walk-to-School Day and our 5th Grade trip to Rock Eagle.

Take Care
