BEEs Are Buzzing at Home!

Greetings Parents and Community Members,
As we round out the semester and year, I want to make sure you have all of the information needed to make it into January 2021! See below for some important information about this week and next.

Intent to Return and Phase II Reopening Plan

Thank you for continuing to work with us as we prepare for our reopening in January 2021. I encourage you to stay up to date on the District’s reopening efforts at www.atlantapublicschools.us/reopen.

Morris Brandon is continuing preparations for the next phase of our Return+Learn plan and as part of our preparation for January 2021, we are asking all families to complete the Intent to Return Declaration form. The form is available through December 21 at THIS link.
This is an opportunity to change your previous declaration or to make a selection if you haven’t already. If you completed the form previously and wish to leave your declaration the same, you don’t have to complete this one. Remember, if you don’t declare, the default selection is site-based virtual at Morris Brandon.
We are planning for a phased-in approach to reopening. This approach includes teacher preparation days and bringing students back beginning with K-2nd on January 25 followed by grades 3-5 on February 1. A reopening in January also means returning to our traditional school hours of 7:30am-2:30pm for face to face students. Based on teacher telework status, intent to return surveys as well as building capacity, we are looking at mitigation strategies that would allow students to return for in person learning four days a week. I look forward to sharing our plan at three scheduled Town Halls beginning next Thursday, December 17 at 10am (Zoom Link Here), January 7 at 10am (Zoom Link Here) and January 21 at 10am (Zoom Link Here). Our town halls will get progressively more detailed and will always be recorded and shared.

Spirit Week Coming Soon!
Next week, we will round out our first quarter with a fun week full of holiday spirit activities. You can find the full listing HERE. Next Wednesday, December 16, we will also be doing a schoolwide food drive to benefit families in need through Operation Feed. See HERE for all the information you need! On Thursday we will host a holiday themed dance party at 11:45am, and Friday we will conclude the learning day at 11am to prepare for our Holiday drive thru and send off from 12-1pm. We look forward to an awesome closeout of this semester and of 2020 as we make way for a new year and new opportunities.

Take care,
j
