Happy Wednesday!

Greetings Parents and Community Members!

I hope your week is going well, and that you are getting into the Fall spirit! We closed out the first quarter in style last Friday with the best HIVE rally we’ve ever had! It was a beautiful day to celebrate outside, where we presented awards to students who exhibit the Learner Attributes of the IB Profile and to those with perfect attendance. Students across all grade levels and all homerooms were recognized prior to revealing the winning HIVE color…Orange! Be sure to follow me on Facebook or Twitter for pictures.

We kicked off Red Ribbon Spirit Week on Monday, and I’ve loved seeing our students dress up for the daily themes. As you know, the week will culminate with our Book Character Dress Up Day on Friday, including our annual Kindergarten parade where our youngest bees will have the chance to show off their book character costumes! Parents are welcome to view the live stream HERE.

Additionally, we are happy to announce that we have moved all of our students back into the cafeteria for lunch. While we continue to keep safety at the forefront, students are back eating with their friends and enjoying lunch together. The decrease in positive cases across the school and the large participation in our weekly surveillance testing also allows us to mix student recess zones. This means that students can now interact socially with students outside of their classes! These small changes have created a big impact around the school as students are excited to eat together and play together across their respective grade levels. As we move toward Thanksgiving Break and ultimately toward the end of the semester, I will continue to update you with any and all changes to our mitigation strategies and visitor policies.

Now that the annual BEE Fund campaign has concluded, I want to give a massive thank you to everyone who donated and supported our school. We would not be who we are without the continued support from our families and community members like you! Every dollar goes directly back to our students, and your donations help us continue to support our children and our awesome neighborhood school.

Get those book character costumes ready, and enjoy the rest of your week. Don’t forget that next Tuesday is Election Day in Atlanta, and there will be no school for our students. Teachers will be participating in a full day of Professional Learning. If there is anything you need, please feel free to reach out to me or a member of our admin team. We are here to support you.
