BEE In The Know for Back to School!
Greetings Parents and Community Members,
Another week brings more updates! We’ve had a great start to our second week of pre-planning as we gear up for day one on August 24. Our staff are working hard on completing 9 weeks of virtual learning plans, developing engaging activities and lessons, and beginning to learn the ins-and-outs of Zoom, as this will be our primary video conferencing tool. We’ve already hosted three grade levels in our Morris Brandon Town Hall format, and had over 300 people join these informational calls. We look forward to continuing this trend today as we see our 3rd and 4th grade parents, and tomorrow when we wrap up with our 5th grade families. Today, you will also receive an email from your teacher with important information regarding our next two Celebration of Learning events, our teacher meet-and-greet (parents only) tomorrow, August 13, between 1pm and 3pm as well as our distribution of materials and supplies on August 18 and 19 at both campuses. For our distribution of materials and supplies, we ask that you follow the detailed plans that were outlined in your teacher email and also below. Each grade level has a specific location for pickup and a specific time window by last name. If you cannot make it during that time, it is okay! We encourage you to have a family friend pick up your materials for you. Our students will be receiving their consumables (textbooks like Wit and Wisdom Modules and Eureka Math), Social Studies Weekly newspapers, math and phonics manipulatives for our younger grades, a Morris Brandon agenda and so much more! If you ordered a backpack through the APS Empty Stockings fund, we will also provide this for you along with any of your technology needs and any materials that may have been left in the classroom last school year. Each bag will be clearly labeled with your child’s unique student ID and login information as well. This will come in handy during your student meet and greets that will take place next Thursday and Friday from 1-2pm. More information to come from your teacher later this week. Please also plan on returning any textbooks and library books that need to be brought back to school. Families who are also not returning to Brandon and not going to Sutton should return their technology at any time during the two day schedule
Aside from this, let’s continue to take it one day at a time and thank you for continuing to be allies and thought partners with us as we move forward with virtual learning.
