A Message from Principal Jay Bland
In the effort to be as transparent as possible, I want to keep you in the loop on everything that has been happening in our district and school. By now, you of course have heard the news about our school system moving to virtual on-line learning for the next two weeks and possibly more. What this means is that our teachers, faculty and staff are still clocking in remotely, monitoring student work, participating in virtual meetings and planning with each other as normal. Of course, there is flexibility involved in this. Many of them, including myself, have young children that will be at home as well! Trying to balance the workload of pushing out assignments, grading, meeting, managing time cards and district expectations above all else is challenging and requires much flexibility! Please bear with us as we work to make this time away from the school building a success.
Here are a couple of pointers that can help you along the way:
Atlanta Public Schools CLOSED starting Monday, March 16
While there are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Atlanta Public Schools (APS), based on the recommendation and guidance provided by Governor Brian Kemp on Thursday, March 12, APS will close all schools and offices effective Monday, March 16. We anticipate that, at a minimum, District schools and offices will remain closed for at least two weeks and potentially extend beyond Spring Break (April 6 – 10).
