Read-A-Thon Visiting Author Christy Ziglar

Our visiting author for the Read-A-Thon this year is Christy Ziglar. Christy, a Morris Brandon parent, has written 3 children’s books and plans to read and speak to each grade during Read-A-Thon. ORDER Christy’s books HERE or download an order form by Thursday, November 10 to have them signed and delivered to your child’s classroom. Christy will donate a portion of the proceeds to Morris Brandon.

Update on Water from APS

From Dr. Carstarphen:

I am pleased to report to you today that the water you drink and use in Atlanta Public Schools’ buildings has met Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

This means that following the district’s voluntary water testing initiative for the presence of lead this summer, all occupied APS buildings have met the standard of being below the EPA action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb) for public water systems. This is even more stringent than the EPA’s action level for schools, which is 20 ppb. Read more

Flu Shot Clinic @ Morris Brandon

Did you know, according to the Georgia Department of Education, that preventable illnesses, such as the flu, are the #1 reason for school absences in Georgia? Help us and APS to Block the Flu by vaccinating your students if you have not done so already.

On Monday, October 24, from 8-11am, licensed professionals will be on-site at BOTH Brandon campuses to administer flu vaccinations. This is open to all of our students, with consent. Please see attached letter for more details. Consent forms can be downloaded here!

Eureka Math 101 for Parents

Confused about Eureka Math? Struggling to help your child navigate this new math program? Join Morris Brandon administration and teachers for a “Eureka Math 101 for Parents” Night on Tuesday, September 27 from 6-7pm. This workshop will start in the PC Auditorium and is designed for all Morris Brandon parents. After a general session, demo lessons by grade level will be hosted by teachers. Statement from Principal Johnson

Sutton Principal Gail Johnson has sent an apology for missing this morning’s PTA meeting. Gail realizes that parents took valuable time from their schedules to attend and, in her own words, “I am beyond mortified and sorry that I missed my time at Morris Brandon this morning. I came upon an emergency at our 6th grade campus when I came in this morning and completely lost track of time. Then I go to the Morris Brandon web site and see my visit listed front-and-center.
