Welcome Back from APS

Welcome back, Atlanta Public Schools families! As we prepare for another exciting school year full of endless opportunities for growth and success, we warmly welcome both returning and new members of our community. We thank you for choosing APS for your child’s educational journey.

At APS, we’re laying the foundations for academic excellence. Last year, we achieved a record- breaking graduation rate of 86.6%, while the Class of 2024 secured over 220 million dollars in scholarships, and students across the district progressed in literacy and numeracy. These achievements showcase our commitment to academic achievement and student success. This year, we will build upon that foundation as we continue to foster a caring culture of learning that prepares every scholar for college, career, and life.

The school year may bring challenges, but we are ready to overcome them with an unwavering dedication to providing high-quality instruction and safe learning environments for every student. But we can’t do it alone—we need your active involvement and engagement as partners in your child’s educational journey.

Here’s how you, as a parent/guardian, can make a significant impact:

●  Ensure your child attends school regularly and on time. Daily arrival is between 7:15- 7:45am.

●  Maintain open communication with teachers and encourage timely completion of schoolwork. Classroom specific communication will be sent every Friday.

●  Support your child’s well-being by prioritizing proper rest, especially during testing periods.

●  Join us for student performances, activities, and recognition events, we have a lot!

●  Participate in our parent engagement initiatives at both school and district levels.

●  Provide valuable feedback through surveys to shape our district’s future.

●  Keep your contact information updated in the Parent Portal to stay informed about academics, activities, class placement and safety. This is critical!
