Morris Brandon Auction Items Needed!

The 2022 Morris Brandon Auction will BEE here soon on Saturday, March 26!

The Auction Committee needs help sourcing items from our resourceful parents for our grade-level baskets. Check out your grade’s theme below:

Grade	Basket Theme	Example donations
PreK/Kindergarten (combined)	We Art Morris Brandon!	Paint sets, craft kits, Michael’s or Target gift cards, art easel, art class gift certificates, markers, stickers, brushes, canvases, a large storage container for supplies, etc.

2^nd Grade	Summer Fun	Pool toys, beach towels, lawn chairs, yard games, portable grill, Cooler, Yeti Mugs, S’mores Kits, sunglasses, gift cards, beach bags, etc.
3^rd Grade	Wine and Dine	Bottles of wine, cookbooks, olive oil, gift cards to local restaurants or wine stores, winery tours, Williams Sonoma gift card, platters, etc.
4^th Grade	Having a Ball	Basketball/soccer balls, baseball gear, Atlanta Hawks, Falcons, Braves or United gear, tickets to Braves/Falcons/United/Hawks games, rounds of golf, visors, sports gear, sports bags, water bottles, etc.
5^th Grade	Family Night In	Games, snacks, STEAM kits, gift certificates for local food delivery places, puzzles, etc

Participation is optional, but we know there are some parents out there with access to some really great items that can be donated to help us in our fundraising efforts. Please send in your items labeled “MB Auction and grade level” by Monday, MARCH 14th.

Kindergarten Round-Up

Greetings Parents and Community Members!

It’s been a great few weeks since my last update. At the Scholastic Book Fair, every student at Brandon was able to purchase books in-person, and all proceeds went directly back to our Media Center. To celebrate our 100th day of school, our PC students participated in activities that encouraged them to count to 100, learning about place value along the way. We continue to host school tours that are packed with parents interested in learning more about our neighborhood school. Several grade levels are participating in High Touch High Tech, an in-house field trip tailored around STEM and grade level science standards, and we even resumed some out-of-school field trips! I presented our initial school budget for FY 22/23 to our GO Team and in the coming weeks, we will tailor our staffing and budget to align with our strategic priorities, most notably increasing proficiency in reading and math. Finally, we kicked off the Kids Heart Challenge to help raise money for the American Heart Association. Thank you to our awesome PE teachers for leading the charge! Return to In-Person Learning on Monday, January 10

THANK YOU to our staff, our parents, and particularly to our students for making our week of virtual school as successful as possible!

We have outlined a plan for returning to in-person learning on Monday, January 10. We will be tightening up our mitigation strategies until we can get through this most recent wave of the Omicron variant. See below for more details.

Surveillance Testing – We are HIGHLY encouraging all staff and students to test prior to returning to in person learning. As you are most likely aware, students can test at a variety of locations, including North Atlanta High School, from 12-6pm TODAY (Friday). More info on testing locations can be found HERE. Given the long lines at other public testing sites, I recommend you take advantage of this exclusive opportunity for APS families.

In an effort to mitigate COVID-19 in our schools and community, Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has adopted a Comprehensive COVID-19 Testing Strategy in collaboration with public health officials, community partners, universities, and healthcare organizations.

VIRTUAL Return to School January 4, 2022

I hope you have had a wonderful and restful winter break filled with family and relaxation. As you probably know, APS has made the decision to pivot to virtual learning for the week of January 4 – January 7 in response to the high COVID-19 transmission rate within Fulton and DeKalb counties. Our teachers and staff stand by, ready to deliver the best instruction we can during these upcoming virtual learning days. In order to help us prepare, please see below for important information regarding technology device pickup beginning at 10am TOMORROW (Monday, January 3), as well as virtual learning schedules for this week.
