Summer Hours

Please note that the school hours during the summer are 8:30-2:30. School closes for lunch from 11:30-12:30 during the month of June. Brandon is also CLOSED the first two weeks of July, resuming this schedule back up July 17 until the start of school!

School Supply Lists

Pre-packaged school supply kits ordering is now closed for the 2017-18 school year.

School supplies are listed here per grade. If you did not purchase a kit, please note the following:

  1. school supplies vary per grade,
  2. there are a number of required items that can only purchased through the PTA and also vary per grade,
  3. the items you purchase through the school store will be delivered to your student’s classroom by the first day of school (and may or may not be there in time for the Celebration of Learning), and
  4. you will need to purchase and bring the remaining school supplies either to the Celebration of Learning or by the first day of school.

Carpool: Time to Register for 2017-18

We are working to re-register existing carpool numbers (and assign new ones for next year). Please – if you have EVER registered for a carpool number – fill out this form regardless of whether you plan to use it again next year! You have three (free!) options which only take less than 5 minutes to indicate:

  • Register (NEW Numbers),
  • Re-Register (EXISTING Numbers), OR
  • Release (EXISTING Numbers to be Released).

It is that simple! Please take the time to help us out in advance of the July 14 deadline (and don’t worry, you can request additional number sets on the form too)!

APS Releases Plan to Fight Post-I-85 Collapse Congestion

As students return from spring break, Atlanta Public Schools is preparing for anticipated traffic congestion due to the closure of Interstate 85. In addition to info listed below, click here to read the official notice. Click here to see updated route times (right-hand column).

The district will implement the following measures starting Monday, April 10:

  • Temporary bus compound at North Atlanta High School in order to park buses serving the neighborhoods on the north side of the city
  • All bus riders in the North Atlanta cluster – including Morris Brandon Elementary riders – should report to their bus stops 15 minutes early
  • All schools in the North Atlanta cluster – including Morris Brandon Elementary – will open doors 15 minutes earlier*
  • Impacted buses will be stocked with bottled water in the event that students are stuck in traffic for extended periods of time

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Registration Age Letter

Community Partners,

We would like to clarify the current policy re. age of registration for Kindergarten and First Grade. According to the Georgia Department of Education, “a child must be five years old on or before September 1 to enter a public Kindergarten. The child must be six years old on or before September 1 to enter first grade. School systems must verify age before enrollment”. This process has not changed from previous years.

During last week’s Atlanta Public Schools Kindergarten registration, a few families may not have been able to register their children for the grade of their choice. We have since clarified the enrollment process and apologize for the confusion it caused. While the Georgia Department of Education’s policy is clear about program entry birthdates, enrollment has always been made on an individual basis. Read more
