Welcome Back From Fall Break!

Greetings Parents and Community Members!! We’re Back!!!! It was so great to see all of our families arriving back to school on the 15th, refreshed and ready to learn! I hope everyone had a wonderful time off, relaxing with friends and family. It even seems like many of our students grew in height over the short break 🙂 We left for Fall Break with some of the best news I’ve heard all year – together we raised $258,000 during the annual BEE FUND CAMPAIGN! I am still in awe of the amount of support our community and families show for our school. We even had a staff participation rate of 81%! As you are well aware, 100% of these proceeds go to our Foundation, which in turn directly supports our teachers and students. The amount of supplies, programs, professional development opportunities and even technology we have been able to purchase because of your generosity has been amazing, to say the least!

While the kids were having fun, we were busy at work all week planning new and engaging activities and lessons for our students. Our teachers were able to host a day of parent-teacher conferences as well as a day of planning out the next unit of Wit and Wisdom, our new Language Arts curriculum. Our admin team was here all week collaborating together as we worked on a new grading policy, began to review our school strategic plan and continued to look for more efficient ways to run our school and remove barriers for students, parents and staff alike.

We have a BIG weekend ahead with the annual Jamboree on Sunday from 1-5pm at the Main Campus. Please be on the lookout for an email from your child’s teacher. We are in need of several more volunteers and sign-up is easy! I can’t wait to see what Sunday has in store as this is my VERY FIRST JAMBOREE! Please also be reminded of my first Principal Coffee Talk this Friday, 10am in the Main Campus media center. The topic will be Brandon safety and we will be joined by a panel of APS district personnel who will shed some light on school and district-wide safety procedures. If you cannot attend, that is ok! I will share a review of questions and answers that were asked during the meeting.

As first quarter quickly came to a close, making way for the second, please know that we are always doing everything we can to ensure your children arrive home from school excited to share what they’ve done and eager to return the next day. Please be on the lookout for report cards coming home this week and, as always, feel free to reach out to me or a member of my admin team with any questions or concerns.
